MILK and the Tents... The Fight Begins

M.A.C has moved away from the tents at Bryant park and has taken with it dozens of designers, including Alexander Wang, Erin Fetherson, Preen, and Band Of Outsiders. MILK is a new venue in downtown NY that M.A.C has set up as a place for up and coming or struggling designers who need corporate support, to host their shows. Unlike the tents, where designers pay $25,000, Milk studio will be free. Organizers of fahion week are trying not to show that their feelings have been hurt by trying to colaberate with Milk by M.A.C, by offering a shuttle service that runs between the tents and milk. They have also been offering warm wishes.

The windows were taken down today... how sad!!

Barneys new windows on Madison Ave. in New York have mannequins falling off of or over chairs with arms flailing and blood splattered all over the windows. The inspiration comes from the quote "i'd never be caught dead ..." It a really good idea! But, I have to say, if i were to choose to die in somthing I would rather be wearing vinatge couture by Christian Dior.

Model Turned Actress

That's 2 this month!!!! First it was Noot Seear in part 2 of the Twilight saga, New Moon. Now it is Erin Wasson in a new movie being put out by the oh so talanted Sofia Coppola, who, in the last 2 years has been seen a lot at all of THE fashion shows in NY and London. Erin Wasson, who will also be showing for the first time in the tents this coming September, is said to be 'making an apperance' in the film Somewhere. She is a busy girl and we wish her luck!

Michelle Obama Goes Short!

Michelle Obama is the Jackie Onassis of our time. Today she showed off her new short hair cut while wearing a Michael Kors sheath dress. Her new bob stays true to her fashion forward ways. We give 2 thumbs up.

Furla Takes a Trip Down the Rabbit Hole

Seconds after watching the new trailer for the Alice in Wonderland movie, I found this Alice in Wonderland inspired collection by Italian leather goods company, Furla. So far it is a vintage looking bag and a great umbrella with a vintage duck handle. But word on the street is, there will be more to come. Can't Wait to see it in person.

Countdown To Fall Fashion Week

With just 50 days left until the tents are alive with the sound of music. Next Friday we will be getting the schedule for fashion week and it is said to be bigger but definatly not better than last year. They're said to have booked designers that "you have never heard of." Bad news for Anna Wintour who enjoyed the fact that designers who didn't deserve to be showing had to cut themselves from the spring lineup.

Like last year there will be a few designers who will be staying away from Bryant Park. They will be showings at boutiques, showroom, and any other place they can cut costs to ride out the recession.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Design for Men

M-K and A designed a mens line for their The Row label. It is geared twords "an older, masculine man." The collection is going to mirror the womans line under the same lable (pictured above) which is mae up of neutral colors, and classic cuts. Tee's start at $200 and coats $3,000.

French Management-Consulting Firm Makes An Offer!!

Christian Lacroix has recieved an offer from the french management-consultion firm Bernard Krief Consulting who specializes in buying failing companies. We really hope that they except the offer. In early June he turned down money that one of his couture clients offered him to keep his company afloat, and almost didn't get to show his couture show.

Betsey Johnson In The San Fernando Valley

The circle of life continues in LA retail malls. Over the past few weeks stores have opened and stores have closed. In the last 2 months we have have gained a Louis Vuitton, and Hugo Boss in the Topanga Mall but we are losing the Energy and Miss Sixty store, when i asked who was going to be going to be taking over the lease the mall wouldn't tell me!!! But after a little pushing and guessing i found out that it might be... Betsey Johnson. Her company isn't at its best (she didn't do a runway show for her Fall '09 collection) but she does have a very devout fan base, including: Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry.

Hermes 12% Increase

After Hermes purchased a Croc farm in Australia and said that it would be hiring 50-100 new leather workers it announces a 12% increase over last quarter!! Even though Japan and the US is a hard market for High-end goods Hermes is still going strong in both countries.

Giles Deacon 2004-2009

Giles Deacon is the creepy white trash looking guy that used Pac Man as his main inspiration for his Spring 2009 RTW collection.
Deacon is brilliant! He has worked with such fashion housed as Bottega Veneta, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Jean Charles de Castelbajac and has been named to show a collection of the work he has done for the last 6 years at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) Next Fashion in Motion show in London.

The All Black Issue

Italian Vogue offered for the first time in July of last year an issue of Vouge that had only black modles. The editor, Franca Sozzani, said the issue was put out to show the importance of diversity in fashion. This year they are switching it up just alittle... The cover and fashion spread will be of black Barbie dolls. "Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate the anniversary issue to Black Barbie," Sozzani said. The issue be out early next year.

Noot Seear was in the 1998 Yves Saint Laurent ad campaign, photographed by Mario Sorrenti, Styled as the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. In 2008 she OPENED AND CLOSED the spring '08 Alexander Wang show!! Now she will be in the new Twilight movie New Moon. She will be playing the role of Heidi, who in the book was the Vampire who would go and collect people so the Volturi could feed without leaving their castle.

Marc Jacobs for less!

Everyone can enjoy Marc Jacobs. I wasnt the biggest fan of his Fall '09 RTW show but I still LOVE his accessories. Last week select Loehmann’s stores (Beverly Hills, Chelsea, Upper Westside, San Francisco, Paramus, Downtown Chicago, North Miami, Chevy Chase, Falls Church, East Brunswick, Reseda, White Plains, Boca Raton, Sheepshead Bay, Irvine, New Hyde Park, Rockville, Riverdale, Laguna Niguel, San Diego, Northbrook and Rego Park) recieved Marc Jacob's handbags and small leather goods. they wouldn't say exactly what bags they would be recieving but they did say that they wouldn't cost anymore than $599.99.
